First Grade Essay Samples - Why Do Parents Need to Try This?
First Grade Essay Samples - Why Do Parents Need to Try This? It's a sad fact that many school administrators will simply not approve of essays in first grade. Some even don't even require that children write one.In the last couple of years, however, there has been a new trend with first graders that has caught the attention of educators and parents alike. Most state boards of education have adopted policies that do allow kids to write essays in first grade. There are several reasons why this may be a trend that you should consider when working with your child on their essay. First, it's a trend that a lot of parents are opting for. The same parents who were concerned about their child being deprived of any form of reading material in their very first year of life may find that they want them to be engaged in some type of writing activity. This can be especially true if the parents are accustomed to getting mediocre students or those who simply are not yet developing the skills needed to be able to write for various reasons. With that said, they are actually somewhat better off than if they had just sent their child to kindergarten without an assignment to begin with.Grammar, vocabulary, and spelling will be taught in the early grades, but the writing portion will come later. You may want to get first grade essay samples from your local school district in order to get some examples of how this is done. In this case, you should always look at the sample as a guide rather than as the all-inclusive inclusions or exclusions of anything.Perhaps you will get a better feel for this using some examples from high school students. For instance, in the spring of last year, I had an experience that certainly reinforced the idea that some things are better left out when it comes to first grade. This is something I want to discuss in more detail because it was an eye opener.During the summer, my children, ages three and four, asked me to help them write a letter for a play that they were going to be in. They wanted to share their feelings with other young people in the play. This is one example of a time when they are doing very well in the writing department. However, what really came to light, of course, was that they were less than enthusiastic about writing essays. Perhaps it will serve them well in the future, but my point is that there are a lot of good reasons to give it a try and you should ask your children about it first.
